The fate of things to come...

Not so long ago was the GE. I had the lightning bolt logo of the PAP (People's Action Party for those of you that still don't know) on my MSN display pic. And someone messaged me over MSN asking me which party did that logo belong to? Was it the SDA? That person is a local, a teenager, born and bred in Singapore. She also proudly declared that she was one of the many apathetic Singaporean youths whom could be bothered with 'politics'.

I remember lamenting this incident to a cab-driver on my way home one night, and he wisely pointed out to me that if you asked them about MOS instead, they would readily be able to give an answer.

On this internet forum that I'm in, we had been talking abit of the GE, which mainly focused on some members-ignorant youths, calling the ruling party a 'bunch of dictators' and the few of us older ones not really bothering to justify their ignorant nonsense with replies. So the thread kinda dies down... and suddenly someone mentions that taufic won some mtv asia awards and you should see the response it got...

The cab-driver was right indeed.

And I sorely lament the state of our youth. A generation of spoilt brats so comfortable and pampered that they turn ignorant and self-centered.

James Gomez detained by police


DEFEATED Workers' Party candidate James Gomez was detained at Changi Airport on Sunday as he headed back to Sweden to resume work at the Stockholm-based Idea International organisation.

Police confirmed today they were investigating Mr Gomez in connection with a complaint they had received against him from the Elections Department.

Mr Gomez, who has been at the centre of a controversy with the department over the submission of a minority candidate certificate, told reporters via an SMS at 4.15pm that he was stopped at the airport immigration and that his passport and board pass had been taken from him.

'I am being taken to police stn, case criminal intimidation,' he said in another SMS.

He was brought to the Police Cantonment Complex about an hour later in a grey Mazda and was understood to have been asked to provide a statement. His luggage arrived in the back seat of a patrol car 30 minutes later.
